Wicked Commentary

Billionaire financier George Soros thinks that, if Mitt Romney wins the presidency, there will be “little difference” between him and Barack Obama in the White House.

Soros offered the reassuring news to liberals across Europe during an interview this week in Davos, Switzerland.

As policymakers from Hong Kong to Canada pressed Greece and its creditors to strike a deal to cut the nation’s debt, Soros pressed in on GOP presidential candidate Romney:

“Well, look, either you’ll have an extremist conservative, be it Gingrich or Santorum, in which case I think it will make a big difference which of the two comes in,” Soros told Reuters in a videotaped interview.

“If it’s between Obama and Romney, there isn’t all that much difference except for the crowd that they bring with them.”

Soros added, “Romney would have to take Gingrich or Santorum as a vice president and you probably have some pretty extreme candidates for the Supreme Court.”

“So it won’t be that great a difference,” he concluded, if Romney becomes president.

Talk radio host Rush Limbaugh described Soros’ move this way: “He’s endorsing Romney. ‘Romney, that’s cool, no difference, I could go either way that way.'”

Soros also told Reuters that many hedge fund managers in the United States are backing Romney because Obama wants to raise their taxes.

Soros predicted that “there won’t be a great deal of enthusiasm on either side of the battleground. It will be more civilized than the previous elections have been.”

  2. I’m a bit confused by this post. Perhaps some of you brilliant people can help me out here.

We do know that Soros doesn’t do anything without a reason. And we all know that he is behind Obama. So why does he even call attention to Romney? Telling Reuters that there’s little difference between the two, sounds like he is willing to abandon Obama and accept Romney in his place, which is very doubtful. So why make such a statement?

Also, notice how Soros calls everyone to the Right of him, “extreme?” I hope Gingrich wins more than ever now!

And what does Limbaugh mean when he says he “could go either way?” Sounds as though he’s willing to accept either one of them. But we know he’s backing Newt.

My guess would be the same as Pepp’s. Soros is playing head games pointed at the Republican voters. So many conservatives were so disappointed with McLaim in 08 and they simply did not vote ushering Obamastalin right into the WH. If it worked then; why not try it again. Soros makes this statement in attempt to disenfranchise Republican voters from even voting again this year. Soros is the biggest crook I’ve ever seen, but he is not stupid.

  3. From transcript of Rush Limbaugh speaking on this Soros commentary:

Soros “acknowledged that a major difference between Romney and Obama would be their Supreme Court nominations,” but other than that, there’s no difference in these two guys other than the people they hang out with. George Soros. Now, why would Soros, if he did, why would he say this? (interruption) Yeah, yeah, well, what’s the psychological game that he’s playing? He’s endorsing Romney. “Romney, that’s cool, no difference, I could go either way that way.” Now, Soros knows that he’s hated by the Republican base. So if he’s playing psychology, he’s trying to “shtup” Romney, if you will.

  4. Another excerpt from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show:

RUSH: That’s George Soros who thinks if it’s Romney, it’s gonna be a boring election. Nobody’s gonna be enthused on either side. The Obama side’s exhausted, tired, worn out. His supporters down in the dumps. Nothing’s happening like it was supposed to. Romney doesn’t excite the Republicans. (impression) “Eh, it’ll be pretty civilized. Der won’t bee a great deal of enthuz’asm.” Does this guy sound like a Bond villain or what? But he said it here. “If it’s between Obama and Romney, there isn’t all z’at much difference except for zee crowd that they bring vit them.” George Soros. Who, by the way, has a big stake in this stuff as we all know.

Soros can play chess better than anyone I’ve ever seen. He moves anything he wants around like pawns and sadly; so many people act just like pawns. I hope this little maneuver blows up in Romneylie’s and Soro’s face!

But “what if” Romney becomes the nominee and is the only one to vote for? Will you let your vote go to waste, instead of using it as a vote against Obama?

For me; I’ll be an ABO at the voting booth! The King gotta go even at the cost of putting Romneylie in his place. I don’t like Romneylie, but I don’t hate him as much as I do Obamastalin that is destroying our constitution one amendment at a time. Romneylie sucks, but I’m not worried about him turning us in a commie state ruled by Sharia Law.

  7. Were I the Democrat Party I would want to face Willard Romney in November. What the media has saved to spring on him would probably fill the Library of Congress. Another, perhaps even more liberal John McCain-type would not exactly invigorate the Republican base and the left of course know it.

Maybe Soros is playing a reverse psychology game. He knows Republicans would view his statement as an attack, Maybe he’s hoping they will sort of rally to Romney’s defense.

And frankly, Soros could only HOPE a president Romney would be the equivalent of Hussein. How many millions of taxdollars has Obama given to Soros’ oil exploration efforts in South America!!!! Soros would LOVE to get the same amount of dough from Romney now wouldn’t he!

    • Doug,

I don’t know what to think of this. I’ve been around to a few other blogs who are writing and commenting on this Soros statement and opinions are all over the place. Some think Soros is trying to stop people from voting for Romney and others say he speaks his mind and he’s actually endorsing Romney because there really is not difference between them.

I hate Romney’s economic plan. He plans nothing for tax reform, only keeping the one we have. I’d like to see the IRS go. Well I just don’t really like him as the nominee actually. So I am a bit biased on this thing.

All we know for certain is that any comment Soros makes about American politics will be designed to ASSIST George Soros and DAMAGE the hated United States. It then only remains to determine HOW he intends each of these to be accomplished by means of the particular comment.

        • Doug,

You are certainly right about that. I just wonder how Soros plans to do what he wants now that he’s threatened by Obama going down. Like you said the HOW.

    1. How can Romney be “pro-life” when 3 years after his supposed “pro-life conversion” he signed $50 abortions into law as part of his socialist healthcare plan that was endorsed by Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, and Planned Parenthood?
    2. How can Romney be “pro-marriage” when he is unilaterally responsible for the illegal and unconstitutional implementation of same-sex “marriage” in Massachusetts?
    3. How can Romney be “pro-family” when he boosted funding for homosexual and transgender “education” starting in kindergarten?
    4. How can Romney be “pro-family” when he opposes a ban on homosexual scoutmasters?
    5. How can Romney oppose the gay agenda when he promised the homosexual Log Cabin Republicans he would not oppose “gay marriage” in return for their endorsement?
    6. How can Romney claim to oppose ObamaCare when Romney himself signed the forerunner for ObamaCare (Romneycare which includes $50 tax subsidized abortions) into law which has been a total failure?
    7. How can Romney claim to be “pro-tax cuts” and “pro-limited government” when as governor he opposed the Bush Tax Cuts (for which he was lauded by Barney Frank) and raised taxes and fees by a billion dollars which has decimated the Massachusetts economy?
    8. How will Romney be expected to appoint conservative judges if elected president when as governor he passed over Republican lawyers for three quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he faced and nominated 2 open homosexuals?
    9. How can Romney claim to stand for religious liberty and freedom of conscience when he supports passage of state level Employment Non-Discrimination Act which would force churches and other religious organizations to hire homosexuals and transvestites or face criminal fines and prosecution?
    10. How can Romney claim to be a man of virtue and integrity when he consistently tells so many outright and easily disprovable lies? (”I saw my father march with MLK” “I”ve been a hunter pretty much my whole life” “The NRA endorsed me” etc…

  10. May I offer a bit different take here? Hope ya’ll don’t mind … Romney appears to be the preferred candidate by the Demleft. So far they have attacked him and now the little-s-man has come out with this declaration. It appears then that the Demleft, etc want Romney as the GOP candidate believing that he can handily be beaten because many GOP would likely turn out fewer voters. That also helps shore up the Demleft in the House and Senate.

But what if, and I stress IF, their internal polls are starting to show that Romney would indeed possibly capture enough of the “independent vote” to make a difference? Could the little-s-man be trying to push the GOP into nominating someone else?

And Dave, I am lousy at chess but I have to agree with your assessment regarding the little-s-man.

Ok, give me your best shots.

You present an interesting take on this. You are always welcome to give your POV.

Oh, I bet their internal polls show Romney capturing the indies since they have turned against the King.

Today a poll came out saying Romney and the King are neck to neck 48 to 48 %. I can barely believe that poll. The King IMHO is not that popular.

Of course we “don’t mind” your giving an opinion. We encourage everyone to join in on the debates. In fact, that’s the main reason Pepp created Pepperhawk Farm.

Some good “food for thought” there Mrs. Al. The Dems thinking that Romney could easily be beaten, but then discovering that Romney could possibly win. So now Soros, with his statement, may be trying to get the GOP to nominate someone else.

    Good thoughts!
