They say truth is the best disinfectant
No doubt in this election cycle we will be treated to a barrage of claims from the Obama administration boasting its credentials on “the war on terror” – by whatever politically correct term they feel appropriate. But between their backslapping and bragging will remain the increasingly obvious truth that al Qaeda as a force, either politically or as violent extremism, is not quite the weakened (tamed) monster they want to portray it as.
But truth was never sacred to Obama’s regime of propagandists. So that may not matter. However, it was always important for them to portray themselves as kind of surreal truth warriors, who really have our best interests at heart and who will be vindicated in the end, if people will just believe them. Or so their narrative goes. Even if the basis of their strategic agenda is purely politics – as is the motivation for anything he does – they project theirs is a selfless agenda, rather than the self-serving one it really is.
So we will hear their talking points about their accomplishments both in foreign policy and even national security at home. Not like they can talk about economic achievements. This ‘achievement hype’ may be their focus but all around is the mounting fresh evidence that the world, the Mid East, and our country may not be the placid incubator of peace and security they want us to think it is under his watchful rule. (Hey, when you are spending 5-6 hrs on the golf course every other day what do you expect?)
Just as they portended (or pretended) the situation in Libya was a successful short-term effort accomplishing a noble goal – even if they didn’t define one – they will suggest if we just continue their haphazard foreign and domestic path we will see those “seas will stop rising”. As O-zero once again tries to convince us to be as “certain” as he that:
“…generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth.”- (08)
But before it gets to generations from now, he will have to convince quite a lot of people in the present that his direction is showing promise, because all it reveals so far is more chaos and more animosity toward America from all parts abroad, even here at home. While he touts killing some nasty thugs and the encouraging signs of Arab Spring and bringing troops out of Iraq; don’t buy the sales pitch, look at what the condition is telling you loud and clear.
See these reports for more info on the real condition abroad.
Then ask yourself, honestly, again if: “This was the moment – this was the time – when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves, and our highest ideals.” Then remember Solyndra, exploding gas prices, Fast and Furious, EPA-gate, his many condescending lectures, and Holders suits on states.
The tide has shifted all right; but can it take our feckless Comrade in Chief out to sea? I sure hope so.
Remember this line from Obama? “I think the Muslim Brotherhood is one faction in Egypt. They don’t have majority support in Egypt.” – Hopefully the Obama “faction” will not have a majority support here, because America sure can’t afford it.
